Robert Bigelow donated $10 million to Ron DeSantis’ campaign
Bigelow is the founder of Budget Suites of America. He has also invested in other projects including Bigelow Aerospace and National Institute for Discovery Science.
The eight-figure check will go into an already massive treasure chest that DeSantis has built as he seeks reelection. As of July 1, 2022, the political committee for DeSantis, Friends of Ron DeSantis, and his campaign reported having an estimated amount of $118 million. That figure will continue to increase after he officially documents the contribution from Bigelow to the state.
The space entrepreneur gained attention after telling a “60 Minutes” host that he was “absolutely convinced” after she enquired if he believed in aliens. Bigelow expressed in the show that he believes aliens are “right under people’s noses” on Earth.
Trump faces increasing chances of a 2024 primary challenge
Bigelow is a conservative Republican who previously extended his words of support for former President Trump. He had also previously sworn to award large prizes to anyone who could provide evidence of an afterlife.
DeSantis is anticipated to run in the 2024 Republican presidential primary and is considered a front-runner alongside former President Trump, who said that he had made his decision about another run for the White House in 2024.

What is the expected estimate for the November election?
According to some sources, the expectation is DeSantis will raise $200 million by the November election, and he is well on his way to that figure. Before Bigelow’s contribution, Citadel investment firm founder Ken Griffin’s $5 million contribution was the largest from an individual to the Friends of Ron DeSantis committee.
Bigelow did not immediately reply to a message left by an assistant at the Las Vegas headquarters for Bigelow Aerospace. A spokesman for DeSantis responded null when asked if DeSantis has met Bigelow.

More recently, Bigelow launched the Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies to examine whether there is an afterlife. The initiative covers a $1 million contest for scientists, religious scholars, researchers, and others to produce evidence that human consciousness can survive bodily death. He used his money also to purchase the 480-acre Skinwalker Ranch so that he could look into possible paranormal activity there.
