The Lifeline Assistance Program provides free and affordable phones for those who need them the most. Please bear in mind that TruConnect is a service provider, and not a device manufacturer. If you received a device under the Lifeline assistance program through TruConnect that got lost, stolen or damaged, here’s how you can get a replacement.

Getting a replacement phone will depend on a number of factors such as water damage, physical damage, manufacturing defect, etc. In case of water or physical damage, you will not be able to get a replacement phone from TruConnect as the company is not liable for any damage that has been caused to the device by you.

In case of a manufacturing defect, or malfunction, getting a replacement will depend upon the time you take to report the defect.

If you received a defective TruConnect Lifeline phone, you may return it within 90 days. You must ship your phone to the company’s specified address at your own expense, and the company’s inspection team will determine whether you are eligible for a full replacement free of charge or at a cost.

Steps to report a damaged or defective TruConnect phone

As previously discussed, you will not be able to get a replacement for a TruConnect phone that has been damaged by you.

But in case of a manufacturing defect or a malfunction, you might be able to get a replacement free of cost. If you find that your TruConnect Lifeline phone is defective within a period of 90 days of first use, you can report to the company to get a replacement. Here’s how you can report a or defect in a TruConnect phone to apply for a replacement:

    • Reach out to customer service at 800-430-0443 to report a defect to your device
    • Report the defect and state what is wrong with the phone.
    • The team might offer a few troubleshooting solutions but if they fail to resolve the issue, you will need to send it to the company to examine the defect.
    • The team will provide you with an address at which you can send your phone for examination.
    • Please note that you will have to bear the shipping costs for sending the device for examination.
    • Once your device reaches the company, the team will examine the phone and determine if you are eligible for a replacement free of cost.

If a manufacturing defect gets identified in your device, the team will eventually reach out to you to inform you, after which you can expect a TruConnect replacement phone free of cost.

TruConnect replacement policy for lost or stolen device

If you have lost your phone, the first thing you need to do is contact the phone provider immediately to have the service turned off and protect your phone balance. However, you should retrace your phone before reporting and confirm that it is truly lost or stolen instead of simply forgotten in the backseat of your car.

TruConnect replacement policy for lost or stolen device

There is no standard replacement policy for Lifeline Program free phones. TruConnect, as expected, provides qualified customers with free phones through the lifeline program. While the phone was free, replacing it might not be. If your phone is lost or stolen due to carelessness, you will have to pay for a new one. This is true whether or not your phone has been returned within the 90-day period.

Steps to report a lost or stolen TruConnect phone

Follow the steps provided below to report a lost or stolen TruConnect phone:

    • Contact the TruConnect customer service team at 800-430-0443
    • Narrate the incident and report that your phone has been lost or stolen
    • Request the team to turn off your services until you find your phone, or get a new one.

This policy is quite different from the one discussed above. This is due to the fact that it applies to phones purchased by various customers. These phones are commonly referred to as upgraded phones.

It should be noted that TruConnect does not produce phones. As a result, they are not liable for any defects that may occur with the phone. Also, if the manufacturer omitted something, this carrier will not be held liable.

    TruConnect

In terms of warranties, they are issued by the manufacturer rather than TruConnect. As a result, your phone will be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty rather than TruConnect’s. This warranty typically lasts between one and two years.

However, if your phone was completely damaged by physical abuse or water, this warranty may not cover the replacement costs. Depending on the nature of the damage to your phone, you must contact the TruConnect customer support team for guidance on how to submit your replacement claim, among other things.
