Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis made remarks in response to a 30-second ad campaign that Newsom launched on July 4 holiday, rallying Sunshine State residents to move to California, a state he said still “believes in freedom.”
Ron DeSantis tears a strip from Newsom in response to the California governor’s attack
Why did Ron DeSantis hit back when asked about the California governor’s ad campaign?
“Freedom is under attack in your state,” Newsom said in the 30-second ad paid for by his re-election campaign airing in a state where his voters are not targeting the state’s legislative acts, such as a ban on 15-week abortion and a bill barring classroom instruction on sexual orientation in kindergarten through grade 3.
Gov. Ron DeSantis fired back at Gavin Newsom, stating the cause of the “hemorrhaging population” of the Golden State was the Democrat’s terrible governance and also cited that freedom there has attracted people, and they are proud of it.

“I’m just sitting here, little old me, doing my job”
“Everyone wants to talk about me and Florida. I’m just sitting here, little old me, doing my job,” DeSantis expressed at a conference.
He expressed his memories of being born and raised in that state, and that until the recent last couple of years he rarely if ever saw a California license plate in the state of Florida, but sees so a lot of them now. He justified his affirmation by implying that if one goes to California, one won’t see very many Florida license plates.
Estimated migration from California
According to some researchers half of Californians have considered moving out of state.
In 2020 alone, nearly 0.65 million people left California for other states . About 0.36 million people moved out of California in 2021, to what some are referring to as “The California Exodus”. Many are migrating out of the country altogether and are instead heading south of the border.
Between 2007 and 2016, California lost a net of 1 million residents to other states — with Texas, Arizona, and Nevada the top destinations.
Why so?
The paramount factor is cost — it is far more expensive to live in California than in other places, and multitudes have decided they are unable or unwilling to pay the premium to live in this state. Housing, of course, tops the list of expenses and many other livelihood expenditure.
Only 25% of the state’s households could afford the expense of a house in the fourth quarter of 2021.
DeSantis condemn the California governor’s obvious violation of his own pandemic restrictions, that Newsom had dined at the $350-per-person French Laundry restaurant while the state was in lockdown.
It was basically to remind the people the fact that “Newsom was treating them like peasants”, said DeSantis.
He later apologized for the same, calling it a bad mistake.
Florida judge blocked law banning abortion after 15 weeks
Leon County Judge John Cooper in Florida blocked a state law banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy that was to take effect on Friday, July 1 handing a defeat to DeSantis, who enacted the restrictions in April.
Judge Cooper assumes that House Bill 5 is unconstitutional in that it breaches the privacy provision of the Florida Constitution and does now no longer match the standards of the three Florida Supreme Court instances that have elucidated the effect of that constitutional provision on abortion in Florida.
“Florida passed into its constitution an direct right of privacy that isn’t contained in the Constitution of US. The Florida Supreme Court has intended in its words ‘Florida’s privacy provision is visibly implicated in a woman’s decision on whether or not to continue her pregnancy,’” the judge stated
Ron DeSantis promises to appeal the decision in a grievous tone
DeSantis while promising to appeal the decision shared, “These are unborn babies that have heartbeat, they can feel pain, they can suck their thumb, and to say that the state constitution mandates things like dismemberment abortions, I don’t think that’s the proper interpritation. We’ll appeal,”
How satisfied is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis with the verdict ?
Texas can enforce its abortion ban from 1925, the state Supreme Court ruled Friday evening, a decision that exposes abortion providers to lawsuits and monetary penalties if they continue to perform the procedure and allowed the state’s new abortion laws to take effect.
Following a series of legal battles across the country, the Supreme Court on June 24 provided the latest decision that revoked Roe v. Wade, a decision of the Supreme Court in which the Court ruled established a nationwide constitutional right to an abortion.
