Keep reading to find out more about the Spectrum Affordable Connectivity Program and how to apply for it.
What is the Spectrum Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)?
The Spectrum Affordable Connectivity Program is a government-sponsored program to provide affordable internet services. If you are eligible, you get to enjoy a credit of up to $30 per month toward your broadband services, or up to $75 in Tribal lands.
“The Affordable Connectivity Program is an important step in driving broadband adoption in America,” said Charter Executive Vice President Catherine Bohigian in a press release.
However, the Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to just one monthly service credit per household.
There are several different types of plans provided by the Spectrum Affordable Connectivity Program.
Plans in the Spectrum Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)
The different types of plans under the Spectrum Affordable Connectivity Program are as follows:
Spectrum Internet 100 – Internet Service for Free:
Spectrum Internet offers a plan called Spectrum Internet 100 under the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides eligible households with download speeds of 100 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of 20 Mbps for just $29.99 per month. Your internet connection will have sufficient speeds for a typical family of four to enjoy uninterrupted video conference, stream movies, or TV shows at 100 Mbps download speeds.
This plan is now free for households that qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program. This plan, however, is only valid once per month, and if you apply for the ACP programme with Spectrum plans, your current and ACP credit bills will be merged. In-home wifi and modems will be provided with Internet connectivity. You will get everything free, under a $30 allowance. If you wish to add other services, the prices will vary accordingly.
Other Spectrum Plans for Lower Bills:
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) benefit is available to all existing Spectrum Internet plans at any time during the program’s duration. For example, if you are an eligible household paying $49.99 per month on a higher-speed plan (e.g., 300 Mbps download), you can still use the $30 monthly credit to reduce your bill payment to only $19.99 per month.
Furthermore, the credit can be applied to Spectrum Internet as a standalone broadband service or to a bundle of services that includes broadband, phone, texting, and the rental fee for the service’s enabling equipment, such as a modem.
Connected Devices
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) also provides a one-time discount of up to $100 for connected devices such as a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50. Notably, each household can only purchase one of these discounted devices. Furthermore, there is no discount for smartphones, and the connected device must be Wi-Fi enabled and support video conferencing.
Unfortunately, according to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website at fcc.gov/affordable-connectivity-program-providers, Spectrum, which is part of Charter Communications, is not one of the providers offering discounted connected devices.
Eligibility Criteria for the Spectrum ACP
Spectrum Affordable Connectivity Program is undoubtedly a great way to save up on your internet bills, but unfortunately, not everyone is eligible for the program. There are certain eligibility criteria that your household must meet in order to receive the benefits.
Eligibility criteria:
