Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, responded to former president Donald Trump and slammed his proposal to “terminate” parts of the US Constitution in order to overturn the 2020 election results.
The Tesla CEO said on Twitter, which he recently purchased for $44 billion, that he agreed with the Left and a small group of GOP members who had slammed the former president for suggesting that the landmark legal document be changed to suit his needs.
“The Constitution is greater than any President. End of story,” Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday, about a day after former president Trump claimed on his own social media platform, Truth Social, that the results of the last presidential elections were “fraudulent,” and argued that the country’s supreme law should be amended according to his will.
Former president Trump made the statement in his Trust Social post in response to the “Twitter Files,” which revealed that the Joe Biden team was in contact with the company in order to suppress Hunter Biden’s laptop story in 2020.
The former president wrote that “a Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great ‘Founder’ did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!”
The White House has asked the public to “universally condemn” former president Trump for arguing that portions of the United States Constitution should be repealed.
According to the White House, the American Constitution is a sacred document “that for over 200 years has guaranteed that freedom and the rule of law prevail in our great country.”
“The Constitution brings the American people together — regardless of party — and elected leaders swear to uphold it,” read a statement released White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates.
Bates added that attacking the Constitution and everything it stands for is “anathema to our nation’s soul and should be universally condemned. You can’t love America only when you win.”
