“A celebration of a wonderful and beautiful life”- writes Trump
Former President Donald Trump, who reportedly stayed silent during Ivana Trump’s funeral service, earlier wrote on Truth Social, “A very sad day, but at the same time a celebration of a wonderful and beautiful life.”
Ivana Trump’s death was announced by the Trump family last week on Thursday. The former president’s ex-wife and businesswoman passed away at age 73 in her Manhattan residence. Authorities concluded that the cause of death was an accident when Ivana fell down some stairs, resulting in blunt impact injuries to her torso.
The 1980s style icon met Donald Trump when he was a budding real estate developer, back in the 1970s. The couple got married in 1977, but later parted ways in 1992 after an ugly divorce that gained a lot of traction from the public. They still remained friends though, and Ivana Trump appeared as a strong supporter of the former president during his 2016 presidential campaign.
The glamorous businesswoman stirred up quite the controversy during Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, when she referred to herself as the First Lady, while speaking to a news outlet. “I have the direct number to White House, but I don’t want to call him there because Melania is there and I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy because I am basically first Trump wife,” she said. “I am first lady.”
Throughout their marriage, Ivana Trump was a major media attraction, referred to as a “power blonde” by Vanity Fair, and described as “every bit as focused and disciplined as her husband, though more privately so.”
