Macron and Kamala Harris to visit NASA in no time. French President Emmanuel Macron has reached the U.S. for his first-ever state visit that current president Joe Biden is hosting. Emmanuel is still to meet vice president Kamala Harris for a visit to NASA headquarters on Wednesday as he started his state visit to the U.S.
Macron and his wife will also meet U.S. President Joe Biden and his wife for a private dinner later in the day. Emmanuel Macron will attend an official welcoming ceremony on Thursday hosted by Joe Biden at the White House.
On the same day, the well-known leaders will talk about Iran’s nuclear program, China’s increasing determination in the Indo-Pacific, and the growing security concerns in Africa’s Sahel territory.
After the talks, Macron and his wife will join a state dinner with musician Jon Batiste, who will perform at the same.
The U.S. and France wish to work more closely in space.
Macron and Kamala Harris to visit NASA, and their visit will offer the two countries a chance to present their cooperation on space technology.
France signed the Artemis Accords in June, which focuses on supporting NASA’s goal of returning humans to the moon by 2024. In the same month, the U.S. united a French initiative to expand tools for adapting to climate change called the Space for Climate Observatory.
France pushing for peace conversation in Ukraine
U.S. and France both are closely holding up Kyiv forces fighting Russia in Ukraine. But differences continued, and Macron has continuously called on Ukraine to restart a peace conversation with Russia. Although, Biden has continued that his decision is simply in the hands of the Ukraine leadership.
Macron’s advisor told the AFP news agency that France and the U.S. are ” not allies on the same page” and promised “challenging” conversations with Biden.
Besides, French government Spokesperson Oliver Veran said on Tuesday that there is a need for ” re-synchronizing” of the plans.
Tensions have also been increasing between the U.S. and its European colleagues after Joe Biden introduced the Inflation Reduction Act, which authorizes aid for climate and energy actions. French President Emmanuel Macron called the legislation “unfriendly” and said that it could alter the “level playing field” in international trade.
