Devin Nunes CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group has said that Truth Social is planning on starting an advertising platform. Nunes and Trump are of the opinion that Google is doing everything it can to sabotage Truth. Previously, Nunes had spoken about being in the process of striking a deal with Google to launch Truth Social on Android mobiles, but there are no further updates regarding the deal. Nunes also spoke about TMTG starting a new platform that can compete with Google so that Truth Social or any upcoming platforms launched by TMTG don’t need to rely on Google. Nunes talks about how Google has multiple monopolies in the tech sector and it is very difficult to compete with them.
“There is no question that Google has multiple monopolies across multiple sectors of the tech sector. And that’s why at Truth Social we are attempting to build our ad platform because we don’t want to be beholden to Google,” said Nunes. The Competition and Transparency in Digital Advertising Act has been passed to restore and protect competition in digital advertising by eliminating conflicts.
Utah Republican Mike Lee talks about how monopolies manipulate the market which has a bad effect on the American economy. “restore and protect competition in digital advertising by eliminating conflicts of interest that have allowed the leading platforms in the market to manipulate ad auctions and impose monopoly rents on a broad swath of the American economy,” noted a source received from Lee’s office.
The Republican of Utah says that this bill is the first step toward freeing markets from the claws of Big Tech Monopolies. According to Lee, it is very important that the internet should be liberated and not governed by the harsh rules of the big tech companies. Lee further said that these big tech platforms are exploiting the people and the new generation, corrupting their minds. Lee says that these companies have failed the US and have invaded their users’ privacy. Nunes talks about how Truth Social can’t rely on these big tech companies at all as they don’t ever want the truth to be in a position of being shut down. “We cannot use any of the tech tyrants because we don’t want to be in a position to be shut down,” Nunes said.
Nunes also speaks about how Google often censors conservative ideas and doesn’t put them out for the world to see. “As someone who had to use Google’s advertising in my past life in political campaigns, the biggest concern that I always had was they had to approve my ads before they went on to a banner ad or a video or what have you and that was really problematic because often times they were much harder on Republicans than they were on the left,” Nunes said.
Due to all these reasons, Truth has decided that it is in its best interest to develop its own google equivalent. “As we move forward and look at our advertising and how we are going to bring in advertising revenue, we don’t want to be beholden to Google. And the challenge that we’re going to have is to build that technology out so that we can go out to the marketplace and that it’s easy to use so that we can bring in revenue to our company,” Nunes said.
Nunes says that this is going to be a big challenge for Truth and Trump Media & Technology Group looking at all the problems Truth has faced and is facing. Although the former president Donald Trump and TMTG CEO Devin Nunes are going to stick to the ideas of free speech, continue their work in the field and do the best they can do.
