Primary elections in Wyoming, United States are just about to start and there has been some fierce rivalry among Trump-backed Republicans and anti-Trump Republicans. Voting for the primary will start on August 16 in the state.
Trump-endorsed Hageman proposes to “send Liz Cheney home to Virginia”
Harriet Hageman, the GOP candidate challenging Rep. Liz Cheney in the upcoming Wyoming primary, highlighted Cheney’s roots in Northern Virginia and urged sending the Republican “back to Virginia” in a new digital ad and a mock website.
Hageman has frequently brought up Cheney’s commitment as a Wyoming representative throughout her campaign.
Hageman claims in her ad that “Liz Cheney does not know how to be a representative” and that she is only focusing on her “personal war against Trump”. The ad featured numerous clips of Cheney mentioning Trump and the Jan 6 Capitol riot.
“Liz Cheney clearly doesn’t know what being a representative means, She’s not representing us. She’s not representing Wyoming. She’s not representing our values. Let’s send her home … to Virginia.”- she said.
Hageman also created an additional spoof website backing her claims, titled “Liz Cheney for Virginia”. The website LizCheneyForVa.com portrays the Republican as a Virginia resident, prioritizing the welfare of the state. It contains information on Cheney’s hometown in Fairfax County, Virginia, as well as a link to a tourism website for all the major attractions in Virginia.
Carly Miller says Liz Cheney rarely visits Wyoming
Carly Miller, Hageman’s campaign manager, claims in a statement made to Cowboy State Daily that Liz Cheney rarely ever visits Wyoming and that she feels more comfortable Democratic Washington DC elites like Mitt Romney near her ” true home”.
“It’s where she’s able to be with people, like Democrats and Mitt Romney, who agree with her on continuously attacking President Trump, enriching defense contractors, and catering to D.C. insiders. The website is just a way to provide voters more information about who Liz Cheney is, where she’s from, and whose interests she’s representing because Wyoming doesn’t factor into any of those things.”
“Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being” -said Trump
Liz Cheney is one of the 10 most high-profile GOP House Republicans who voted in support of Donald Trump’s impeachment in light of the Jan 6 attack on the US Capitol Hill by right-wing extremists.
Cheney, who was once an ardent Trump supporter, has faced constant backlash and verbal attacks from the former President and has been in his bad books ever since. Trump endorsed her GOP rival, Harriet Hageman, only in an effort to oust her from the House GOP leadership position.
“Liz Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being. I watched her yesterday and realized how bad she is for the Republican Party,” Trump said. “She has no personality or anything good having to do with politics or our Country.
She is a talking point for Democrats, and a warmonger whose family stupidly pushed us into the never-ending Middle East Disaster, draining our wealth and depleting our Great Military, the worst decision in our Country’s history.”
